7pm, Wednesday 13th. Pub is reopening for a 'preview' evening. This event is invitation/ticket-only, and follows a long period of closure and a full refit and building works to fix previous problems with drains and other issues. The full re-opening of this pub, which is the only one in it's local area, will follow in time for the weekend (Might be Thursday 14th, but don't hold me to that). From talking to their new chef, it will continue as a real ale/real cider pub, and I will be investigating on Saturday Lunchtime, as soon as I can get away from Ladbrokes, just up the road (I finish at 11:40, so I'll be in at 11:42).

Contrary to popular rumour the pub is not closing imminently. It is very much open and now serving the not widely available Ringwood 4X Porter as well as 3 other beers from the same stable, namely Old Thumper, Fortyniner and Best; additionally there is Hopback Summer Lightning, Sharps Doom Bar and Fullers HSB. With beer prices from £2.85 a pint it''''s definitely worth a visit.

The Wymering Arms in Cosham is currently closed. The owners want to demolish the pub to build flats. The council has refused planning permission for this but the developers are appealing. The local Residents want the pub to stay, English Heritage are considering whether the Pub should be preserved as an example of 1930s Architecture.
