CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) is a not for profit organization run by volunteers backed up a small paid team in the HQ office at St Albans, the Campaign is run by an elected Board of Directors, the National Executive (NE). Reporting directly to the NE are a team of Regional Directors (RDs) who are elected by branches in their Region. RDs look after several branches each and pass ideas and opinions to the NE. Each branch has an elected committee who put in the spade work at local level. The spade work is often fun with pubs to visit, breweries to explore and beer festivals to attend or help run. More spade work is done by many national committees who meet several times a year to put their expertise towards national, and local, campaigning.

Major policy decisions are made at the lively AGM and Conference by those members attending.

CAMRA is the only voice of the consumer in the beer and pub related issues and fights on many fronts: good quality real ale, pub preservation, full measure pints, consumer choice to name but a few. It fights for real cider and perry too.

Portsmouth & South East Hampshire
Our Branch
The Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Branch is just one of over 200 CAMRA branches nationally. CAMRA, The Campaign for Real Ale, was founded in March 1971 and the Portsmouth & East Hants Branch, as it was originally called, in February 1974.
We organise several events each year, the main one being Winterfest in February.
We also organise visits to local breweries and some of the more remote pubs in the south east corner of Hampshire. For more information on our social events, click here.
